In the middle of November I joined the rest of Wageningen to welcome Sinterklaas at the Wageningen harbour. What a fun and novel experience!

Legend has it that every year Sinterklaas comes from Spain by steamboat to reward good children with gifts. more »»

October heralded the start of autumn in a frenzy of falling leaves and rain. Much to my surprise I even experienced my first electric storm in the Netherlands. After viewing more than 20 houses we have found the perfect place and have taken the leap and bought it. Now looking out over the park in front of our new home I feel truly happy… and very tired. I suspect I have finally settled in. more »»

The Dutch go on summer holiday in the months of July and August. Favourite destinations include France, Germany, Spain, Turkey and anywhere within reach of the trusted caravan. Over the same period a great number of tourists descend on the Netherlands, especially the coastal regions. more »»

July in the Netherlands is a wonderful and serene time. Many people are away on holiday, meaning the streets are calm and shops are quiet. Since my partner is on holiday we decided to use the days to explore our region by bike. more »»
